Selangor: RM50m for the national semiconductor fund

GovernmentI

Selangor commits RM50 million through SIDEC and PNSB. Two firms it backs, SkyeChip and GreatASIC, already design chips at the Puchong IC Design Park.

  1. 01The problem

The best-paid chip work is design, and many Malaysian engineers still leave the country to do it.

  2. 02The fix

Put state money alongside the national semiconductor fund, so home-grown design firms can grow here.

  3. 03The proof

RM50 million committed in October 2026; investee firms SkyeChip and GreatASIC are based at the Puchong park.

  4. 04What's next

The target remains 10 home-grown IC design companies within five years.
